Kajabi Review: 10 Things to Know Before You Buy in 2025

kajabi review 2025 things to know before buying

Kajabi Review 2025: If you’re researching Kajabi for your courses, coaching, or community, you’re in the right place!

I get it—picking a course software is STRESSFUL! If you're anything like me, you're probably obsessing over making the right software choice. I actually started on Teachable, outgrew it, and ended up switching to Kajabi.

In this post, you’ll learn about the ten biggest updates and features that matter for anyone considering Kajabi in 2025—plus my honest take on whether Kajabi is worth the cost for scaling your business.

Expect a deep dive into pricing, community updates, AI-powered course creation, and more, so you can walk away feeling 100% confident about choosing (or not choosing!) Kajabi.

10 Things to Know Before You Buy Kajabi in 2025.

1. The Kickstarter Plan Is a Game-Changer

  • What It Is: Kajabi introduced the Kickstarter Plan in 2024, priced at $89/month (monthly) or $71/month (annual).
  • Why It Matters: It’s perfect if the usual Kajabi price tag feels like a lot. You can create your first product, sell it, and then upgrade to Basic or Growth when you’re ready.
  • My Take: I’m on the Growth plan—it has everything I need (and more). But if I were low on cash, I'd totally start with Kickstarter to avoid a future platform switch.
  • Comparing to Other Platforms: If you’re eyeing Teachable or Thinkific, this smaller plan still gives you tons of flexibility—no painful migrations later. (Trust me, switching is no joke. I learned the hard way.)

2. The New Downloads Feature (And Why I’m Not 100% Sold)

  • What It Does: Allows you to create a dedicated “Downloads” product with multiple files for streamlined delivery.
  • The Catch: Each download counts as a product, which could eat up your product limit depending on your plan.
  • Pro Tip: If you’re selling low-cost products, skip the Downloads feature. Just set up a landing page + offer checkout, then automate an email to deliver files. No wasted product slots. You can watch my tutorial on this here

This works especially well for small digital products—like eBooks or templates. Keep it lean and flexible!

3. Newsletter for Both Free & Paid Content

  • Why I’m Pumped: Kajabi’s Newsletter feature lets you build a free or paid newsletter right inside your platform.
  • Massive Email Growth: Readers can subscribe or even pay to access your premium content.
  • Tutorial: I have a full YouTube video going deeper (linked below), so definitely watch if you’re ready to turn your newsletter into a real revenue stream.

4. The Community Updates Are a Total Win

Community is everything these days. Here’s what’s new:

  • Circles: Segment your customers into smaller groups (e.g., “Beginners,” “Advanced,” or specific interest areas).
  • Meetups & Live Rooms: Host real-time Q&As, accountability challenges, or workshops right in your community space.
  • Challenges & Check-ins: Motivate members to share progress, goals, or weekly tasks—perfect for online coaching and group programs.
  • Course Integration: Now you can embed your community circle directly in your course modules. Students never have to leave the course area to interact.

Bonus: Kajabi also offers a free mobile app, so your people can access courses and community anywhere (this is not to be confused with the branded app—more on that later!).

BTW, Kajabi just did a MASSIVE update to their community feature in March 2025. Here’s the latest tutorial.

5. Kajabi Payments + Sales Tax = Fewer Headaches

  • Built-In Processor: Accept debit/credit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Afterpay, and Klarna right inside Kajabi.
  • Afterpay & Klarna: Customers pay in installments, you get paid in full upfront (yes, there’s a higher transaction fee, but it can be worth it for cash flow).
  • Sales Tax Collection: Kajabi can handle collecting sales tax if needed—making life easier if you dread the whole tax fiasco.

(Disclaimer: For specific tax questions, definitely chat with a professional—I am absolutely not a tax accountant!)

6. Brand-New Invoicing Feature

  • Send Invoices Directly: Head to Sales → Invoices, add your customer, pick the offer, set the price and due date, and off it goes.
  • User-Requested Update: Kajabi actually implemented this because so many creators wanted it. They really do listen to feedback.

This is super handy if you have more “bespoke” offers or you need a direct invoice for corporate clients.

7. Kajabi’s AI “AMA” for Rapid Course Building

  • How It Works: Turn on the AI toggle when creating a course, and AMA will auto-generate your course outline, modules, and even your initial promo email.
  • Is Kajabi’s AI Perfect?: Nope. In my opinion, Thinkific and LearnWorlds have slightly stronger AI—but Kajabi’s overall features still make it the better platform for me.
  • See Them All: I did a Kajabi Review 2025 breakdown comparing top course platforms’ AI if you want the nitty-gritty.

Bottom line: AMA is a major time-saver, especially if you’re stuck on how to structure your course content.

8. Creator Studio: Cool Idea, Needs Polish

  • What’s Promised: Creator Studio says it can transform one piece of long-form content into 40+ assets (emails, blog posts, social media posts, short videos, etc.).
  • My Experience: The automated video clips aren’t always well-cut, and sometimes the AI text is…meh. But it’s great for pulling subtitles so you can repurpose them in ChatGPT (that’s what I do!).
  • Use Case: If you’ve got a workshop or training, you can convert it into a mini course pretty easily. That’s where it really shines.

9. Your Own Branded App (For Bigger Budgets)

  • Why Consider It: A fully branded app means you can offer in-app purchases, push notifications, coaching, courses, challenges—the works.
  • The Price: Yes, it’s expensive. But all custom apps are. Kajabi’s pricing is actually on par with other white-label app services out there.
  • Pro Potential: If you’re a high-ticket creator or run a large membership, having your own branded app might be the next-level experience you want to offer your tribe.

10. Built-In Email Marketing That Actually Works

  • All-In-One: This is huge—no more juggling an external email service (like ConvertKit or Mailchimp).
  • Features: Beautiful templates, segmentation, GIFs, inline videos, A/B testing for subject lines and content, plus automation triggers.
  • Saving Money: Depending on how big your list is, you can save $30–$160/month by canceling your external email software.

Pro Tip: Once you see how easy Kajabi’s email builder is, you might wonder why you ever bothered with clunkier software. (Been there, done that.)

Bonus Mention: Upsells & Downsells

I can’t wrap this up without mentioning upsells and downsells:

  • Checkout Flow: Kajabi lets you tack on a quick upsell or downsell at checkout—like a mini training or 1:1 coaching call.
  • Double Your Sales?: Honestly, yes. My revenue skyrocketed once I started offering an upsell on every major product. So, definitely test it!

So…is Kajabi worth it for 2025?

Personally, I think it’s hands-down the best platform if you’re serious about courses, coaching, and community—especially with these new features. But only you can decide if it aligns with your goals and budget.
